Conner Insurance Named Healthiest Small Business in Indiana

Conner Insurance, a family-owned insurance firm based out of Indianapolis, was recently selected as Indiana’s Healthiest Employer for 2016 in the small business category (2-99 employees). The firm joined 5 other winning Indiana companies – IMMI, Monarch Beverage, CNO Financial Group and Indiana University Health, to represent health victories across company size categories from 2-99 all the way to 5,000+. Having been selected multiple times in the past as a finalist, 2016 marks the firm’s first win in Indiana. However, this isn’t the first time that Conner’s commitment to health has gained national attention. For 2014, 2015 and 2016, Conner Insurance was included in the top 100 healthiest companies in the nation by Healthiest 100. Earlier this year, the firm was also recognized by the American Heart Association as a Gold Fit-Friendly Worksite for their significant physical activity and wellness programs we have put in place for our employees. Over the past 7 years, Conner Insurance has placed a greater emphasis on health in order to lower healthcare spending, build a culture that allows individuals to thrive both personally and professionally, and provide an ongoing demonstration to clients of why health is important. An entire kitchen remodel completed last year has provided healthy snacks and freshly prepared meals from Conner’s own employees, as well as healthy cooking demos coordinated by Spire Wellness, the firm’s health and wellness partner. Spire Wellness has also worked closely with the firm to provide health education and conduct group health classes, competitions and outings – initiatives that have been central to their internal health and wellness goals. “The Wellness program at Conner has been beneficial to me in many ways,” said Brittany Meadows, Benefits Account Manager at Conner Insurance. “From building relationships with my teammates during our monthly Miscellaneous Monday lunch with games and annual wellness week, to making me more aware of my personal health status and goals through biometric screenings and monthly challenges, I am so thankful for the healthy snacks in our kitchen and the exercises we do with our trainers in the morning to get our day started.” Ben Conner, CEO of Conner Insurance, believes that this award is only the beginning, and is confident that his team’s appreciation and commitment to health will continue to place Conner Insurance among the healthiest companies across the nation in 2017 and beyond.
