While a homeowners policy will cover damaged siding caused by a covered peril, it may be hard to find the exact match to your existing siding, especially if you have an older home. A newer endorsement that Conner Insurance is seeing with our carriers is the matching siding endorsement. This endorsement is added to homeowners insurance to ensure consistent quality of home siding materials after a loss caused by wind or hail. Consistent siding appearance contributes to the visual attractiveness and value of your home, so we know how important it can be to our clients.
Yes, a standard homeowners policy agrees to pay for direct physical loss to property. It would repair or replace siding damaged by wind or hail. Undamaged siding, however, may not be covered by the standard policy to replace in order to match the newer, repaired siding that was installed. The matching siding endorsement provides additional coverage to add additional matching siding to the undamaged material.
Coverage applies to mismatches resulting from texture differences, color fading, and discontinuation of materials. This endorsement gives you the option to replace undamaged siding when your homeowners insurance carrier repairs or replaces damaged siding and the replacement siding does not match the undamaged siding.
Every carrier offers different coverage options, but not all insurance companies provide this endorsement. If your home could benefit from this endorsement, ask your agent if it can be added to your policy. Conner Insurance partners with more than 20 carriers to provide comprehensive policies to our clients.
